Twenty Eight Gems
When I made my move to Atlanta back in November 2020, I declared that it would be my year of intention. I didn’t have much clue as to how my year would turn out, or where I’d be by the end of it. The only thing I was sure about was that I wanted to live each day with intention and purpose, no matter how grand or mundane the day turned out to be. As I look back at one of the most transformative years of my life, all I can do is smile at how wonderful it’s been. God promised big blessings would be waiting for me on the other side of my fears and as always, He showed up and out. We stumbled a bit as expected, but this has been such a rewarding adventure and I’ve truly unlocked a version of myself that I didn’t even know existed. With that being said, thank you God for allowing me to see another year! In honor of my 28th birthday, here are 28 lessons that I took away from the past year. I’ll be carrying these gems close to my heart this year and beyond.
Twenty Eight Gems
Follow the path lit by God.
There is an overflow of love living inside of you. In order to share it you first have to know that you’ve always been worthy of receiving it.
God’s plan for your life will always be far greater than anything you could ever imagine for yourself.
Energy is palpable. You do in fact know the vibes.
Your happiness is your responsibility and yours alone. As is your healing.
Authenticity is key in everything you do.
You’ll never truly know what you’re capable of until you push yourself outside your comfort zone.
God’s voice is a peaceful one. Get familiar with it.
It’s good to be sad sometimes. Feeling your feelings allows you to move through it and eventually let it go.
When you ask God to show you something, you must be willing to accept what you see.
Stop tearing yourself apart every time you look in the mirror. You’re beautiful at every size. Practice loving the parts of you that you may not always like.
Not everyone is going to like you. No matter what you say or do. So let’s kill the people pleasing.
There is so much power in being vulnerable with your heart.
Boundaries are your best friend. Those who get upset by your boundaries are the ones who’ve always benefited from you not having any.
Seriously, just spend the money. It will always find its way back to you.
Please stop ignoring the red flags. This is not the circus my dear.
Congratulate yourself on all your wins, no matter how big or small. You should be so incredibly proud of how far you’ve come bestie!
Life isn’t always black and white. More than one thing can be true at once.
Life really is more about the journey and less about the destination.
Take a moment to be fully present and be grateful for exactly where you are today, right here and now. You might not be where you ultimately dream of being yet and that’s okay. Still, open your eyes to the lessons of today.
You can do hard things. You can do scary things. And you can do them well!
Regardless of what you contribute to the world, you are worthy of love and respect.
Don’t let your fears cripple you and stifle your dreams. Be afraid and do it anyway!
All relationships require work.
Recognize when people project their fears onto you. Be careful not to internalize other people’s insecurities as your own.
Healing is a non-linear life long journey. It takes time and you’ve got forever to go.
Fall in love as often as you can. With people, with places, with learning, with life, but most importantly with yourself.
I am grateful for all that I am and all that I have. I am open to receive all blessings and abundance that may come my way. I remove all blockages keeping me from mental, spiritual, and physical growth. (Thank you Lauren Ash for my new favorite mantra.)
